Born and raised in Casper, Wyoming Dr. Mahnke completed her veterinary degree at Colorado State University in 1989. She later completed her Master’s degree in Wildlife Disease at the University of Georgia in 1991. Her love of the west brought her back to Wyoming where she worked as an associate veterinarian in mixed animal practices in Casper and Sheridan prior to starting her own practice.
Dr. Mahnke opened the doors of Casper Animal Medical Center in October of 1996. Since that time she has enjoyed the many facets of providing compassionate veterinary care for all types of animals and their owners. She became certified in Veterinary Acupuncture in 2006 and having seen its tremendous benefits, she has become passionate about pursuing alternative therapies for animals.
She lives outside of town with her family, numerous horses, dogs, and cats. On her time off she enjoys yoga, riding her horses, taking her kids to junior rodeos, going on pack trips in the mountains around Pinedale, and going to warmer places in the winter!
Dr. Layne Holmes is a 1992 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He started his career as a veterinarian at a race track and small animal practice in Texas before moving to a sport horse referral practice in Wisconsin. Dr. Holmes completed a surgery residency at Virginia Tech in 2001. Here he received advanced training in lameness diagnostics and treatment, as well as surgical management of cases such as colic, fracture repair, arthroscopy, upper airway disease and wound reconstruction. This experience also provided him with a broad exposure to advanced internal medicine and critical care cases in the equine arena.
He moved on to serve as an assistant clinical professor, equine emergency clinician and surgeon at the Kansas State University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital from 2001 to 2004. Later, he returned to equine private practice in Wisconsin and then Texas. He spent the last 7 years in small animal and mixed animal practice. He has a keen interest in all things surgical and has completed and continues to train for advanced surgical procedures for both small animals and horses. He also performs orthopedic surgeries. We had the good fortune to have Dr. Holmes join our team in September 2012.
When free time is available, Dr. Holmes enjoys riding his horse, hiking with his dog, gourmet cooking and nature photography. He enjoys all facets of equine and small animal veterinary medicine and looks forward to serving the needs of those special companion animals and their owners.
Dr. Laura Boyd is originally from Shreveport, LA. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 2013 and from St. George’s School of Veterinary Medicine with Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She is looking forward to serving the community of Casper as well as surrounding communities and their furry friends! In her free time, she enjoys taking her dogs hiking, riding horses, gardening, and home improvement projects.
Gen is originally from Charles City, Iowa. However, she spent the majority of her childhood growing up in the black hills of South Dakota. She graduated from Eastern Wyoming College in 2008 with a degree in Veterinary Technology and joined Casper Animal Medical Center in 2008.
Gen is married, has 5 horses, 2 dogs and 2 kitties. In her free time, Gen enjoys home life with family and her critters, horse activities, artwork, camping and hunting.
Nicole is originally from Regal, MN where she was born and raised on a dairy farm. She attended Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN where she got her Associate of Applied Science degree in veterinary technology in 2014.
Growing up on a dairy farm Nicole discovered her two true passions, which is her love of animals and agriculture. Nicole enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Andrew was born and raised in Casper, WY. He Studied Pre-Vet at Casper College and Pre-Vet Biology at the University of Wyoming. Currently taking (and about to complete) PennFosters Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) program and will sit for the VTNE exam next year. Andrew has a 1 year old Australian Shepherd.
Andrew enjoys working with rescue agencies and has fostered more than 20 dogs at his house. Andrew also enjoys the simple things in life and loves being outside lost in the woods with his dog taking photographs.
Karlina grew up in Greybull, Wy. After graduating high school she enlisted in the Wyoming Army National Guard as a 68W Combat Medic and has her state EMT-b license. She moved to Casper in August 2016 after completing her military training. Casper College is where she received her Associates in Animal Science and is continuing education. She joined Casper Animal Medical Center in June 2018. She loves animals and all things outdoors, especially hiking and running with her puppy, Buddy. She also loves spending time with family dirt biking, snowmobiling, and nearly anything with a motor.
Jamie grew up in Reynolds, ND. She went to school at Globe University in Moorhead, Minnesota where she received her associates in Veterinary Technology. She moved to Casper in November of 2015. She joined Casper Animal Medical Center in January 2016. She likes to read, help animals and hang out with friend and family.

Kari was born in Casper, Wyoming. Attended Casper Community College for four years prior to transferring to Washington State University for an additional fours years. Graduated with a bachelors in Production Animal Science and a minor in Agriculture Economics. Upon graduation Kari came back to work for Casper Animal Medical Center and has been on board since November 2000.
Kari is married to her wonderful husband Ben. Together they have two beautiful girls, Harper and Kadin, who are very active in archery and 4-H. Kari’s hobbies include watering my acreage and following my family to different archery shoots.
Sarah is originally for Elizabeth Colorado, she moved to Casper in March of 1999. She joined Casper Animal Medical Center in April of 2006. She is married with a daughter and a son. She has 2 cats, a Siberian Husky, a Chihuahua and a horse. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, going horse riding, and going on road trips.
Daphne joined the CAMC team August of 2017, she was raised in Lingle, Wyoming and moved to Casper for college where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2015. After 2 years in the social work field she decided to take up her other passion and work with animals. She intends to return to college for her Veterinary technician certificate in a few years and later continue on to work on her Veterinarian degree.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, playing video games, reading and camping with her family. She also enjoys theatre (acting and attending live performances), singing, going to concerts, Comic Con, and going on traveling adventures. She lives in Casper with her husband, their two children, and three cats: Midna, Y’shtola, and Pippin.
Breanna joined the CAMC team in June 2013. She is a native Wyomingite, born and raised on her family’s small beef cattle operation outside Cheyenne. After high school, she attended Casper College to obtain an Associate’s degree in General Agriculture, which she received in December 2010. She then moved to Twin Falls, Idaho to complete distance education courses through the University of Idaho; she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Communication, and Leadership in December 2012.
Her rural upbringing instilled in her a love and respect for the outdoors; in her spare time she can usually be found somewhere outside – hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, shooting, or snowshoeing in the winter. She also enjoys reading, writing, baking, nerding out to anything Game of Thrones, traveling to new places, and listening to Texas/red-dirt music, especially when she can attend live performances! As an avid amateur photographer, she almost always has her camera close at hand during her many adventures. She lives in Casper with her boyfriend and their two crazy German Shepherds, “Luna” and “Major.”
Don graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Wyoming in 2002. After working in environmental analysis for 13 years, he joined on with CAMC in August of 2014, doing laboratory work as well as assisting the technicians and doctors with their patients. Diagnosed with leukemia in February of 2017, he took a year off from the clinic for treatment. Now back with the wonderful team at CAMC, he is supporting the clinic in a more administrative position, taking care of the clinic’s inventory needs.
